"The U.S. Department of Justice announced Tuesday that it has closed its investigation of the fatal 2014 police shooting of 12-year-old Tamir Rice in Cleveland, saying no criminal charges would be filed against the officers involved because video of the killing was not good enough to conclusively determine what happened."*

Can the Feds under a Biden administration pursue charges against those officers? Technically there was no judgement from a court.

The other side to this, if they thought this wasn't a kid, and just some guy that had a gun, he would be allowed to have a gun. So they basically shot someone for exercising their constitutional right.

Not sure what games you played as a 12-year-old kid, but my friends and I never went around pointing replica guns at strangers for fun. Oddly enough, my parents taught me that pointing guns at people (even toy guns that look real) is a good way to get killed.

@Giovanni Salamon You cant point to one piece of legislation, name one precinct that was shut down, or refer to a single Obama admin policy undone by Trump, but you swear hes the cause of the division in this country. It wasnt the previous eight years or identity politics anf pandering to niche special interest groups or the MSM cherry-picking stories of the rare questionable (nearly always justifiable) shootings of criminal...nope, it was all Trump. And whats your "proof"? He refused to bow down to the most prolific, most popular organization of racism since the founding of the klan (I.e. BLM).

    3. Giovanni Salamon
      Giovanni Salamon
      Il y a 11 jours

@atheist28403 They were consent order decrees with Chicago, Baltimore and Fergerson. They had to change their act of face potentially getting shut down and have the constitutional mandate enforced by the DOJ. That was the beginning. They would have gone after other departments as well had Hilary been elected and continued what Obama had started.

    4. atheist28403
      atheist28403
      Il y a 11 jours

@Giovanni Salamon Tamir Rice was also handled at the local level...then the DoJ got involved. The DoJ decides which cases to take up and which cases it doesnt. Furthermore, which police precincts are you suggesting Obama dismantled? As far as Im aware, not one police department was shuttered as a result of any investigations during the Obama administration. Did they state some departments had a history of racial discrimination? Sure. Did anything substantial follow as a result? No. But, I'll bite, what Obama police reforms do you think Trump undid?

    5. Giovanni Salamon
      Giovanni Salamon
      Il y a 11 jours

@atheist28403 Those cases were prosecuted at a local level. With Tamir Rice no prosecution occurred. The DOJ under Obama was shutting down corrupt police departments but Trump and Jeff Sessions undid all of that. We are 10 steps backwards because of Trump.

  13. Zokizzy Foshizzy
    Zokizzy Foshizzy
    Il y a 13 jours

So basically what DOJ are saying is that the shooting and killing of Tamir Rice was perfectly justified. Idc if they described this as "tragic", If there's no charges then they're saying that what the police did was okay. This means all police can do this without facing justice, as long as no evidence turns up that would prove what they did was wrong. Again, DOJ communicate this by not convicting the officers.

This is so messed up 🤦 those airsoft guns were very popular at one point and THEY LOOK REAL. What I always notice on things like this is where were the parents? Why is he wandering around with that thing. I'm a grown adult, I wouldn't do that. Was he home alone, was he neglected? What the hell was going on at home that led up to him being in this situation? There's more to this story that's not being explained. This one kid had his head blown off here in downtown under the international bridge a few years back. He was throwing rocks at border patrol. So they shot him. It nearly caused an international incident. Where were his parents? Why is he under the bridge at freaking 3 in the morning? I think the parents should be looked at more closely because if you neglect your kids , bad shit can happen.

@Kevin Gotti"The black kid was nowhere near any1 else while the white kid was as a protest were he was threatening others." Where did you hear that BS? Oh wait...never mind, I already know. 1) Rice's friend (to whom the gun belonged) removed the orange tip to make it look real. 2) Rice was pointing the realistic-looking toy at innocent strangers in a public park. 3) Rittenhouse was being chased by armed thugs for defending the property of innocent business owners. The two situations couldn't be more different. Yet, because TYT makes the comparison, you think it makes it logical sense. Try thinking (critically) for yourself.

    2. John
      John
      Il y a 13 jours

@Kevin Gotti it was a pellet gun. Not an air soft gun. At least all the articles I read stated that.

    3. C. Redfern

      Il y a 14 jours

@Kevin Gotti the orange part broke off my little brothers AR-15 because he couldn't put the thing down... he can't play with those guns anymore because things changed. He's autistic and doesn't measure danger or consequences of playing guns with his friends around the block. At Kmart when I was a kid they sold toy guns made of wood and metal and actually looked awesome, I still have my old rifle. But this is now and and there's no excuse for blasting a little kid like that. Now That Rittenhouse guy with a real AR, watch the entire video. That guy wasn't at the playground, he was in a riot, armed, that wasn't a peaceful protest either. Both sides were armed. Rittenhouse was left behind from his pals who were supposed to protect the car dealership from destruction, that's when his dumbass got surrounded, it's a messed up situation all around. And frankly I don't care about either party in that case, nobody should have done/been there. My argument is why wasn't anyone taking care of this little guy at the park? Did his parents know he had that 🔫 or did he just go to the park without permission? This could have been avoided.

    4. Kevin Gotti
      Kevin Gotti

You must not know air soft pellet guns have orange tips at the end of the barrel to differentiate between real and fake. How should i put it? In the US human life is worth nothing if the killer is in uniform, wether it be in the wars all around the world, or in the streets of the US itself. to end this you cant just "defund the police", you would have to renovate the hole system and make everyone responsible for what they do. that includes jailing former presidents for war crimes, jailing the torturers and the guards at gunatanamo bay, jailing every soldier that killed a civillian in some random country... Put value back on human lifes, and work to end suffering - this also includes to give people health care, decent wages, free education, paid vacation, paid sick time. These are 1st world standards, not some fairy tales.

YET YOU LAUGH AND WALK AWAY. GOD WILL HAVE THE LAST LAUGH...TO MANY PEOPLE IN POWER FOR EVIL. BIBLE SAID THAT EVIL IS GOOD. NOW THE WAY THIS WORLD IS GOING AND GETTING WORSE. ... I HAVE PRAYED FOR YEARS NOW AND EVERYDAY I GEY NO SLEEP. I DONT CARE. GODS DOES NOT SLEEP NOR SLUMPER...HE IS WITH ME THROUGH IT ALL. BECAUSE I TRUST HIM TO WATCH OVER ME. Some justice. But did the kid have a play gun that looks real...probably fake means cop can legally shoot your indignation is of a story post facto (which I understand and empathized) did he point at him. It not injustice the gun looked real forget the age. Is it just because hes black you get upset. A bullet comes out a gun fast and cops are trained that way.He is right how fast and close the cops were but yrs of shooting by kids on others. Do we know if the cop though it were real. It's not a toy it's a 0.177cal that can kill animals and blind you theyve been known to kill but his age shouldn't be the whole story he somehow got a weapon that can injure or blind.i blame mom or dad because they obvious didnt talk to him about even toys.wasnt there a law thar toys had to have orange on tips of guns to let cops know it a toy. Many pellet guns look like really real an no orange tip oh yea NRA got involved saying Bb guns & pellet guns were not to be because it's not a toy because they arent.

@Tyla Barros I was going to get slammed because I luv tuts and i spoke from my heart. Kids get arrested daily from pellet guns reason they look real is NRA. I was just being snarky about parents and shouldn't have said that. It's a but for scenario, but for the kid not being old or educated enough to know he shouldn't have the gun that looks real he wouldnt or shouldn't have a gun pointed at him being black shouldn't matter. Kids are stupid and but for the NRA getting pellet gun mark to I'd it with orange tip he shouldn't have been shot. I agree he shouldn't but was why. Bad coping by cops yea. The cops got off because a ruling says the cops were in the right. No they weren't Jon said it succinctly.

You blame the parents for their child's death by cops? I don't think they're only upset because he was black. Any child's life lost is a tragedy, especially those that were preventable. There is no excuse for shooting in a situation that hasn't even been assessed. Cops are supposed to be respected for risking their lives for the greater good. If they shoot first in any uncertain circumstance, then they aren't risking their lives, they risk ours. They are cowards. There's no justice for this family.

The same can be said of BLM...they will search for any reason to riot, loot, and victimize the innocent as long as the person police shoot is black. Doesn't matter if they shoot at the cops, victimize women and children, or openly declare on social media that they won't be taken alive. This constant _need_ to be seen as a victim is pathetic.

As soon as Kyle is convicted, that will put into question gun rights and self defense laws. The far-right will protect that shit much more than their own children. It all comes down to how obsessed the far-right are with their guns and their precious self defense laws (which, really, only exist for white people to shoot black people and get away with it), so they'll defend any shooter so long as they're white.

Nobody wants to have an adult conversation about serious issues. They just want to call people racist, trolls, etc. when you say them things with no merit it makes you look very ignorant.

@Laura Meyer the child was alone at a park playing with a BB gun. Why would the 12 year old think it would would be ok to play at a public park with a BB gun and why would the parents let him go by himself to the park? Why would he walk up to the police car with the toy gun in hand and visible? But why would the officer pull right up next to him if the call was a person with a gun? Like I said there are multiple human errors that led to this. It is a tragedy and I hope the family is doing well but to use this story to push a narrative that cops are out purposely hunting black people is not true.

    5. Laura Meyer

No. One person had the capability and the responsibility to preserve life. They shot and killed a child with a toy gun. Under no circumstances do the parents or that child hold partial responsibility for that murder. Unless of course, you are happy to live in a world where the right to safety and security and fair, professional treatment by police officers is dependent on public opinion of your parenting and your child's games, even when they fall in perfectly legal parameters.

It’s reasonable to question the validity of the officer’s version since the whole thing happened in 2 seconds. Unfortunately video did not capture audio and it wasn’t clear in the video if the car’s passenger side window was up or down for them to be yelling commands through.

The cop then jumps out while shooting at the same time and gets to cover behind the car while the other cop then casually walks out with his gun pointed at the ground more then anything else, indicating there was never even a perception of a threat. Loehmann is no better than a school shooter imo, acting out his kill fantasies on a little boy. Also, toy guns are supposed to have orange tips for exactly this reason.

@Jean but he didn't. The cop got a heads up from dispatch that it may be a toy. The person that called told them that it may be a toy. So should that cop taken 2 seconds to look? And it was open carry state anyway. Having a gun wasn't a crime and he shouldn't have been executed as an INNOCENT 12 year old! And one last question: People call the cops on all kinds of situations that they shouldn't. Is that the officer who you would want responding to an incident with someone you care about? Car accidents, arguments, falsely identification (someone thinking you did something that you didn't), noise complaints, loitering even if you weren't, etc. People are calling cops more and more for stupid things out of fear, stress, anger, to be mean-spirited and even out of hate. Don't think it can't happen to an innocent person because it too often does.

I don’t think it’s moderators, I think it’s an algorithm that deletes posts with certain phrases. I have a highly insensitive joke I used to make on every video where Michael Brooks is mentioned, and then one day seconds after posting it would be deleted. I eventually caught on and reposted with a slightly altered version (misspellings) and that one stayed up.

The amount of BS in this video is astounding. 1) 0:24 - "A 12-year-old who was doing absolutely nothing wrong..." I guess pointing (what looked like) a gun at random strangers in a public park isn't considered wrong by this moron. 2) 1:06 - "The caller also said, the gun is probably fake." Newsflash, dummy: cops don't talk to people who report crimes, those messages are told to and then relayed by dispatchers. The dispatcher who took the call never passed that information along to the responding officers. 3) 2:36 - "...the boy was _playing_ with a toy air pellet gun near a playground at a city recreation center." Yeah, pointing a replica gun at people in a public park is not a game I ever played as a child. 4) 2:47 - "a twelve-year-old dying because he was playing with a toy gun at a park." It was modified to look like as realistic as possible (removal of orange tip) _and_ he was pointing it at strangers. In addition, upon the officers' arrival, he lifted up his jacket and reached toward his waistband. 5) 2:58 - "...and then proceeded to cross state lines with that gun..." No, he didn't cross state lines with the gun, it was being kept in Kenosha waiting upon his arrival. 6) 3:10 - "...but Tamir Rice, who cares? 12-year-old got shot, killed, no justice, let's move one, not a big deal" No justice, huh? The "mother" received a $6M settlement for her role as an absentee/neglectful parent. 7) 3:21 - "When you juxtapose those two stories, how does anyone deny how messed up our justice system is?" Those two stories couldn't be less comparable. Tamir Rice was pointing a gun at random innocent strangers for fun. Kyle Rittenhouse was attacked by armed thugs for trying to _defend_ the livelihoods of innocent people from ignorant, hateful rioters. 8) 5:27 - "What can you do to de-escalate the situation as a police officer who is in a vehicle with a bullet proof vest on? Like, you can't just pause for a second and ask a question?" First, cop cars aren't bullet proof. Second, vests aren't very effective against a round to the face. Third, when the suspect is already reaching for the weapon, pausing is a sure-fire way to get yourself killed. 9) 5:42 - "12-years old, guys, 12-years old." Yeah, and? So, guns operated by children are less lethal? 10) 5:52 - "Innocently playing at a park with a toy gun". Again, he wasn't _innocently_ playing. He was trying to scare the crap out of random strangers with what looked like a real gun. Not sure how Ana got down as a kid, but none of my friends ever played "point a gun at strangers" when we were young.

It was common for police to shoot kids with replica guns and toy guns before the orange safety tips were mandated by law after numerous kids were shot. Once the orange safety tip law came into effect the shooting of children stopped. The orange tip was removed from the colt 1911 replica airsoft gun that he was flashing and pointing at people. The police had no way to know that it was not a real firearm. This is just another case of lazy absent parenting.

His mother allowed him to have a airsoft gun that is designed to be a cosmetic replica of a real firearm but with a large orange tip so people will not mistake it for a real firearm. That orange tip was removed by the friend who he supposedly got it from.

Do you understand that we black Americans have feelings or do you just know we are capable of taking all that pain since we have for so long and so therefore we should?
